Anonymous asked: Hey. I just want to say I absolutely love you and your blog. And I was looking at your "religion" tab. I know it's probably not worth anything nor does it mean much to you, I'm sure. But I just wanted to say that I have recently started attending church more and more again. And I know that some Christians are all like "OH! GET AWAY! ASDFGHJKRTEU!" No. I support you. And everyone else. And I want to see you go REALLY FAR. I LOVE YOU!!! <3 <3 <3
ahhh love this message. I’m not sure if you meant your message probably doesn’t mean a lot to me (but it does), or if you meant that religion probably doesn’t mean a lot to me (but it does, in a way I haven’t quite figured out yet). it’s frustrating when people hate on religion or stereotype against Christians as bigots — it’s simply not true, and it’s no different from other types of stereotyping. I’m glad you’re finding a balance between your religious and your personal beliefs, I think that’s really important. oh and you’ve reminded me, there’s a great video by this guy who took time off from Harvard to do intense research and found NO evidence of homophobia in the Bible. it’s good stuff. posting it shortly, check it out! thank you lots for the kind message, I want to see you go far too, friend <3
EDIT: Both t-reyrex and johnlikesboys94 recommend Fish Out of Water for more on the topic. There’s also For the Bible Tells Me So, though I’m not sure if that’s specifically about the Bible’s stance on homosexuality, or about how Biblically-based bigotry affects people’s lives (haven’t watched it yet). The internet is a great wealth of information :)
